Welcome to Spaland

What is better than a cake on your birthday? A massage by a very well muscled “Tony” that involves 30 minutes of scrubbing from neck to toe with a seaweed and sand mixture, a shower, and then a hour of heavenly relaxation, and a massage too. Welcome to Spaland at Gran Hotel La Florida. A beautiful hotel atop of Tibidabo, a small mountain that caps the basin of Barcelona. Jason and I arrived a half hour early and had coffee on the terrace that looks out on the city. Wow, the views, the pool, the cabanas were gorgeous and as we found out expensive! Jason wanted to swim in the pool while I got my treatment, the hotel said gladly for 100 euros! Jason decided to go off wandering, but that is another story.
Ah, the zen peacefulness of the spa, I could feel it already. Until I realized that the only masseur that spoke English was a guy. A very cute guy. I am going to have to get naked in front of him! I took a deep “zen” breath and said “ah when in Rome.” It took me all of three seconds to get over the fact that this guy was going to know my skin as intimately as my husband. In was well worth it. Surprising affordable! Amongst the 20 euro sandwiches and 100 euro pool dips, this “firming” skin treatment put most AZ spas to shame. Thank you sweetie!

I’m so glad you’ve celebrated your BD in such a fun way. How does it compare to the Spa at the Sanctuary?
